I LOVE this place. The food can be hit or miss. Some of the dishes they serve don't seem to be quite up to snuff when compared to the other Chinese restaurants in town.... The reverse is also true tho, some of the things they serve here are FANTASTIC. Wong's Chow Mein is the traditional Cantonese version made mostly from bean sprouts served atop a bed of crispy noodles, DELICIOUS! The lunch specials are priced so inexpensively that an argument could be made that it is a waste of money to eat elsewhere lol. The portioning is always exactly right. You never get too much or too little food. Just enough to finish everything... The service ranges from OUTSTANDING to crummy depending on which server you get. Yumi and the other Chinese ladies are always great! They also hire waitresses from the school nearby, and, they usually aren't so great... it doesn't matter tho. The food always comes out fresh and hot and almost unbelievably fast... The thing about this restaurant that I find most appealing is the atmosphere. It screams retro and I REALLY like it! The sign outside is marvelous and wandering into Wongs on a rainy day for some hot-tea and greasy junk food is definitely a great experience. It really feels like you are taking a trip back to the 1970's. and I mean that in the best possible way. There is NO other place in Klamath Falls that makes me feel as welcome as Wongs.... If you are the kind of person that thinks of a salty, greasy dumpling as some kind of racist atrocity....stay away from here.... if you are the kind of person that thinks of a greasy dumpling as a delicious delight.....then you will be delighted :) This is a great place and one of my favorites in town.

This is an old-fashioned, small town Chinese restaurant - step back into the 1960s, enjoy the authentic retro sign and decor, and have some sweet and sour chicken or chop suey. My wife grew up here and grew up with Wong's as THE Chinese restaurant and consequently she still loves the food here. A couple of years ago we were eating at Wong's and I asked the waitress which of two menu selections she was better. She replied, "What difference does it make? It's only food." Seriously. That's what she told me.

This place I have been eating at since 1971 (yeah, as a kid!). It has changed hands a few times since then but the food still rocks! Have been there lately three times on business lunches since the first of the year and every time, great! The Rice Soup is super and the Fried Prawns and Fried Rice really pop. Service is always fast and friendly and the restroom is clean. This isn't some uppity Chinese Bistro but good, honest Chinese food at a reasonable price. Check the lunch specials!

We were staying in Klamath Falls and were in the mood for some Chinese so we hit up Wongs. So good!! We had Wongs Fried Rice, some of the best I've ever had, and I've had quite a bit of Chinese food, the pork was super tender, the rice wasn't mushy or too dry, really good flavor. Sweet and Sour Pork was delicious and the Pork Egg Rolls were on point. Didn't care for the fried shrimp, but Im not a huge fried food fan, so there's that. Hot and Sour Soup was really good too, nice and 'meaty' with good flavor. Nothing tasted overly salty and was cooked well. Service was fast and everyone was really nice. Four stars because the place needs some serious renovating. Taped up booths and nasty carpet. Had our two year old with us and I was freaking out he was going to try and crawl under the table, nasty!!

Chow mein was not chow mein. Atmosphere was dark and dated, but the service was excellent. The tea was not good: came from a container.

Old school restaurant with old school interior. The walls have red velvet patterns and the place it self is really dark. The lights inside make the place look dark even when it's sunny outside. The seats had black duct tape on them to hide the beat up torn seats. Some Armourall will fix what ever is existing of the booths. The food was alright, but really tasteless. I understand American's will add soy sauce before they eat but you might have to go through a gallon of soy sauce with this place. The menu is full of ads. It's funny because the first I've seen a menu with ads inside. I'm not sure how old the menus is but the selections were adequate. The price is about right for what you pay. The staff are friendly but the decor is really in need of some remodeling. Some like the old school look but fix the booths and maybe new carpet and new lighting will help.

This is traditional Chinese Food, Food and service is good, but the taste was so-so. The Chow Mein was a shredded cabbage on top, with dry noodle (think crackers). The BBQ Pork was well prepared but had no sauce on it. We asked for a side of sweet & Sour Sauce, my wife thought it was runny? The egg rolls were EXCELLENT!

What a great little restaurant! I love old school Chinese food, and this little jewel really delivered. It caught my eye when driving down Main St. in downtown Klamath Falls. Talk about cool! And I'm talking 1950's cool. The best kind! Stepping into this place is like stepping back into a groovier past. I especially loved the wallpaper. Red and gold velvet damask! Love it! The food was hot and tasty, if a little salty, but it was definitely above par for the price. $5.50 for a lunch special! The sweet and sour sauce was gingery and delicious! And the service was fast and friendly. In summary, great food, great prices, great service, and GREAT decor! If you love old school Chinese food, and retro dining spaces, make sure to check out Wong's the next time you're in Klamath Falls.

OK, let's be reasonable and compare this place to others like it. After all, we are not in SF's Chinatown, or Seattle's International District, right? You are not going to get gourmet Asian-fusion food in Klamath Falls- aint gonna happen. Wong's is delightfully retro, which I personally love. As far as a small-town Chinese restaurant goes, Wong's is surprisingly good. I had the Almond Fried Chicken, which they prepared 'old style' for me. (I had asked the server whether their AFC was the stir-fried type as is common these days, or the deep fried type with some-kinda brown gravy and almonds. She said they served the former, but would happily make the old style for me.) It was quite good, if a tad over-breaded. The Ginger Beef was excellent, with a nice balance of meat and vegetables. The fried rice was good- not over-cooked , too salty, or mushy. I liked the ambiance, and the service was excellent. In K-Falls, Rick's Bistro has a more modern menu, but lacks the 'place-feel'. Wong's is a good version of what you grew up with if you are over 40. No bar or liquor, which is OK, though it would have been nice. I'll definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way home from Crater Lake to grab a quick lunch. We both ordered from the lunch menu. I had "pork chow mein" and sweet n sour chix. The chow mein wasn't authentic. It didn't have noodles (WTF?). It was just a pile of stir fried, bland bean sprouts and celery with some chun king (the wannabe crispy 'noodles' you buy at the grocery store). My boyfriend had the pork fried rice and sweet n sour chix, which was not very good either. We shared pork eggrolls, which was a bit mushy inside. The service was very friendly and professional though. To sum it up, if you're looking for authentic, real Chinese food, I wouldn't come here. If you're looking for cheap, fast food quality Chinese food, this is your place.

Who wrote those good reviews? Are they on the payroll or just mean-spirited people trying to get travelers to eat at the worst Chinese restaurant in the world? We stopped overnight in Klamath Falls (which I don't recommend - there are no falls and the motel warned us not to go outside after 8 because of a massive midge infestation.) There were only a couple of restaurants open on Sunday and we chose Wong's because it had a good sign and a good-looking retro interior. We had already ordered when I noticed the waitress sitting at the counter picking her teeth. Otherwise I would have left. She didn't wash her hands before picking up our plates. GROSS!! The hot and sour soup was inedible, and I love hot and sour soup and am not overly finicky. It was canned peppers and too much vinegar and not much else. The chow mein tasted a whole lot like the canned Chun King from my broke student days. The broccoli in oyster sauce was the best thing we got. No flavor, but at least it seemed fresh. It was bad enough, but it got even worse when the men a couple of tables away started talking loudly about how tattooed women and long-haired men with earrings (us) were what's wrong with society today. I felt like I was in a scene from "Easy Rider". I wish we had eaten power bars in our motel room. More than that, I wish we had stopped in a different town.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants ever!! Superb service, consistently excellent food and large portions. The decor is really nice, and this place has been around since at least the 50's, if not longer. It's no wonder why they have been in business for so long, the quality of the food and service just can't be beaten. I would recommend Wong's as being the best restaurant in Klamath Falls.

I would compare Wong's to eating at home. It's not amazing but its comforting. I am sick today and really wish I could get some beef noodle soup. :P This place was a family staple when I was little and I like that its not changed so much. Wong's is the only place I like to go for Chinese, you try to get beef noodle soup anywhere else. Plus they always make 3 alarm chicken for me. I like that I can get what I want here.

Great food. Had the vegetable fried rice and pan fried noodles. Some of the best Chinese I've ever had. Friendly service and great atmosphere. Stayed busy the whole time I was there. Cooked to order and very quick. Great prices too. Most definitely making it a regular.

If you think you are having Chinese food, you are greatly mistaken! I was staying in town on my way to Crater Lake. I decided to stop by to see what Chinese food is like in Klamath Falls, and yep, it was just as I suspected it to be. I had chicken fried rice, sweet n sour soup, and szechuan tofu. The chicken fried rice was decent but a bit salty. The sweet n sour soup tastes nothing like it, it was extremely sour and very watery. The szechuan tofu had just 2-3 pieces of tofu in it, the rest were onions and peppers! It tastes sour just like the soup, maybe it's cooked the same way?! The only thing authentic about this place is that Chinese paintings on the walls. Then again, you didn't really expect authentic Chinese food in Klamath Falls did you?

The shrimp egg rolls are an experience unto themselves. They are the main reason to visit here. The rest of their food is just so-so, the atmosphere is totally Brady Bunch, and the sign out front has been broken for at least 3 years. In desperate need of updating/fixing their place up.

5 stars and 1 star on the reviews.... OK, I have lived in this town for 27 years, and did actually eat at Wong's when I was little. Never recently, but there's a reason for that. YUCK. It's like fake Chinese food. They serve hamburgers!!! Some people don't mind, in fact it does have a following, surprisingly. It's dark and dingy inside. It's almost a joke to say where to go if you want to eat out here...Wong's, ha ha. Never. If you want something decent, however, head down the street to Dynasty or Hanayori (Japanese).

If you have traveled, you will realize that in order to have decent Chinese food, sometimes the Mom and Pop operations are reliable for giving you what you pay for. Wong's has not changed a bit. I love Wong's. The decor is just too cool. It's old, reminds me of something out of a Bruce Lee movie. If you order something not on the Lunch Special menu, you can have variety. I love looking into the kitchen and seeing people prepare my food. The menu offers American Fare, which is targeted at children I believe, because most kids refuse to eat strange food. Wong's is simply good Chinese, reliable and good if you get the craving for something quick, honest and easy on the pocketbook. Most places have been praised, it seems strictly on atmosphere. Rural Americans live a good show. Look at the success of Applebee's. The slop they put out is gladly eaten because the place has that college-vibe. I recommend trying Wong's.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
